Complex and Compound Fracture

Complex and compound fractures are serious orthopedic injuries that often require specialized evaluation and carefully planned treatment. A compound fracture, also known as an open fracture, occurs when a broken bone is associated with an open wound or communication between the fracture and the external environment. Complex fractures may involve severe displacement, multiple bone fragments, joint involvement, soft-tissue damage, bone loss, or other associated injuries.
